4 DAY DESERT TOUR From Fes to Merzouga

Overview:

Four- day trip from Fes to the desert of Merzouga and then we will be going through the middle Atlas Mountains and experience a camel trek in the desert camp for one night.

4 DAY DESERT TOUR From Fes to Merzouga Itinerary :

Day 1 :Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Middle Atlas Mountains – Todra Gorges

After breakfast, we’ll leave Fez and head to Todra Gorges, passing through Ifrane to reach the Azrou cedar forests where the wild monkeys are sheltered. Taking pictures of the wilderness in Morocco will be a great chance. Lunch will be in Zaida’s modest Berber village. We continue the ride through the Atlas Mountains to admire Medilt’s scenery to get to Rich’s small town. Here, we move right to pass through Imilchil’s popular town before arriving in the evening at Toudra Gorges.

Day 2: Todra Gorges – Jorf – Erfoud – Merzouga (Camel Ride & Night in Desert)

We’re going from Toudra Gorges to Merzouga after breakfast. On the way, Berber villages are scattered. We will move through Tinjdad, Jorf and Erfoud where we will sense the beginning of Tafilalet’s Saharan oasis. And then proceed to Merzouga, and then we go to ride the camels in the erg Chebbi dunes after refreshing in Merzouga. It’s a wonderful experience to imagine riding a camel in erg chebbi where the desert’s quietness is the dominant, reaching the camp, leaving the camels and walking to a high sand dune for sandboarding and watching the sunset. Dinner is going to be served with Berber drum music under a Berber tent.

Day 3: Merzouga – Berber Families – Black Desert – Merzouga Desert Camp

We ride the camels back to Merzouga after an early sunrise in the dunes. After breakfast and shower, we will drive on our way to Kamlia to explore the small villages around Erg Chebbi dunes including (HassiLabied, Merdani, Khamlia, M’fis) where we expect to meet locals showing their desert foxes. Leaving Khamlia, then our next stop is going to be on the spectacular view of the golden dunes on the Algerian border, we will pause for a picnic lunch under the shade of a tree before heading to visit a family of Nomads who live in the Berber tent and look after herds of sheep, goats and camels. When enjoying the taste of a nice cup of tea, you will be introduced to family members and learn about their way of life. You will then have the opportunity to visit the sites of black volcanic rocks. Then, you will hit the panoramic view near Yasmina lake where you will be fascinated by the dune landscape in addition to the nearby lake (springtime) and then return to Merzouga, overnight will be in a hotel next to the dunes.

Day 4: Merzouga – Er rissani – Ziz Valley – Azrou – Ifrane – Fes

We’re going to start our tour back to Fes after having a shower and breakfast. We pause on the road to drink tea with a nomadic family before going back through the mountains of the High Atlas. We are stopping by a town called Midelt where we are going to have lunch. This town at 1488 meters of altitude is a very spectacular mountain, strongly situated below the Jbel Ayachi (3737 m). We will travel to the historic city of Fes in the afternoon.
